Use your stash challenge

I must be nuts, but I signed up for a "use your stash" challenge on scrapbooks.com.
You have to do 20 layouts before purchasing any new supplies! I'm not at all sure I can do this! ...Probably the only way is if I do them really fast! I think I'll post them all here rather than in the gallery there, because some of them won't be gallery worthy, I'm sure...
So, here are my first two:

1) My daughter in law posing with her great grandmother's quilt which won a prize at the local quilt show.

2)grannyscraps meets CrafTmom - a cyber friend "reunion."

3) Finally did that cover for my Book Of Me:

4) It's about time I got some of these school pics done!

5) Grandaughter's graduation.

Mini Albums...

Someone asked about mini albums on one of the forums I frequent - I have had a lot of fun making mini albums, so I thought I would share a couple of them here.
I make the covers myself out of chipboard, and just cover them with paper, and the pages are done by cutting some 12 x 12 carstock in half so it is 6x12, and just folding them in half and gluing them together in an "accordian" fashion. The ribbon holds the book together at the binding, as well as at the tie.
This first one I made for my sister after she had taken me to the "Tulip Festival" at Thanksgiving point. We had such a lovely day touring the gardens, and I had taken tons of photos, but I didn't really have much to journal about, so I "googled" some quotes about gardens and nature, and added one of those to each page.
She was so tickled with it! I also made one for myself, and each time I look at it, it's a fun reminder of that day.

This other one I did after a "Sister Retreat" we had a few years ago. I decided not to do regular size pages on it for the family album, because it was just about me and my sisters, so I decided a mini album would be more appropriate for this occasion. It turned out to be a very poigniant experience, because right after this we found out my oldest sister has a degenerative lung disease, (which is incurable) and so it will have been the only trip of it's kind for us.

(I really need to get around to finishing the journaling for this one - I never quite finished it.)

Been Playing....

...with some of the new BG lines, Mellow and Recess.
Here's another little card from the Mellow line...it turned out totally different than what I had in mind - does that ever happen to you?
I had to simplify, because it was too heavy! LOL!

In all honesty, when I first looked at the "Recess" line, I was sorry I ordered them - didn't like them much at all - but, as often happens with BG, the more I played with it, the more I fell in love!
Sorry, I can't show you that card yet - it was for a contest, but here's a little sneak peek:

I've scrapped until the wee hours the last 2 nights, and I have a screaming headache today...better take a break and get something done in the house before hubby fires me! LOL!
Have a great day!

Scenic Route

My scrapping marathon has produced one layout (this one for a challenge on CMK)...and 2 partially finished cards (I'm having such a hard time finding what I need to finish them...) Not a very good showing for 2 days work! :(
...Well, I did finish one other layout, but it's not post-worthy!)
At least it's a start - considering the mojo's been in the deep freeze for about a month!
Hoping to get back in full swing, now that school has started again.

Have You Ever Been Mellow...

...LOL! Sorry for the "80's flashback!
I love this line by Basic Grey! It's a combination of all my favorite colors, plus the textures and patterns are so fun!
I put this little card together last night (along with another that I just can't find the right finishing touch for, so it will have to debut at a later date.)
I used a sketch from somebody's sketch blog - I'm going to have to do some research because I can't remember where I found it...(blushing ever so slightly) and credit must be paid! If anyone recognizes it feel free to remind me...

The flower rub-on is also from Basic Grey.
Now if I could just master the art of photographing cards! It is so hard to get just the right lighting so that the colors look true to life...

Summer Calm - Blog Challenge

Lucy issued a blog challenge to find a photo depicting "Summer Calm"
Here's mine:

The girls reclining in the yard watching dad/grandpa doing fireworks.

Or maybe this one - watching the waves lap up on the shore...
